Chords for Charango: Major, Minor, Dominant, Augmented, and Diminished
Are you a beginner struggling with basic charango chords? You’ve come to the right place!
We’re excited to offer a new PDF guide that shows you the main chord positions and most-used inversions. This guide contains 12 chord charts, one for each key. The chords are written for a charango with standard tuning, known as “temple natural” (G-C-E-A-E).
This guide includes:
- Major, minor, dominant, minor seventh, augmented, and diminished chords for the charango.
- Over 100 diagrams of chord positions in tablature.
- 12 keys in total.
- A PDF file optimized for easy viewing on mobile devices.
This is a comprehensive guide designed for quick reference. It presents only the truly useful inversions and chords, without overwhelming you with every possible variation—many of which can be figured out from the chords already shown.
In short, it’s a collection of charango chords created to be effective, easy to reference, and helpful for beginners. It features the most-used positions while also introducing the main inversions.
How to Study These Charango Chords
We recommend starting with chords built on natural keys and then moving on to altered keys. A good approach is to begin with the key of C major and then study the other keys by following the circle of fifths.
You’ll also notice some notes at the bottom of each page. When we mention “fundamental positions,” it means that the chords in that key can also be used to build similar chords in other keys. For example, if you move the G majorposition up two semitones, it creates an A major inversion (just remember that you may need to omit the open string, as in this case).
