How can a fully handmade instrument be so inexpensive? The secret lies in our direct relationship with the makers, a bond of trust and mutual respect built over years of collaboration between Italy and Bolivia. Charango.it acts as a bridge between Europe and South America, allowing us to bring low cost handmade instruments here for the very first time. Affordable for students, yet still carrying all the tonal qualities of true artisan craftsmanship.
This classic student charango from Aiquile represents Bolivian lutherie in its purest form. With its round soundhole and simple yet elegant design, it preserves the traditional charango aesthetic. Entirely handmade by a Bolivian luthier selected by Charango.it, it delivers a balanced and bright sound, ideal for beginners who want an authentic handcrafted instrument at an accessible price.
The charango features 12 frets. This is a deliberate design choice intended to focus playing on the lower register of the fingerboard, where the instrument naturally performs best, while ensuring more reliable intonation even on an economical handmade instrument. By concentrating the playable range, the luthier can prioritize tuning stability and musical accuracy, making it a more effective and rewarding instrument for study.
As each charango is handmade, small aesthetic variations from the photos or video may occur, but the shape, sound, woods, and luthier remain exactly the same.
